Ok, so just to make everyone's heads hurt a little more, here's the latest:
I got the job.
And I accepted it.
When the call came in there was a flurry of panic in my head - What do I say? What do I do? I hesitated for a moment and said "Ok, great... That's great."
I start a week from Monday and I'll be emailed all the details...
So my first thought was "Oh god I have to call them back straight away and tell them I don't want it", but then I calmed down a little, had a think about it, read Amanda's comment on the last post and rang the ATO.
After 20mins on hold, I got through to Greg - a lovely chap with a brittish accent, who put my fears to rest about the 48% tax I thought I'd have to pay.. it's nowhere near that much, although he couldn't give me an exact figure.
So, I guess it might be ok afterall!
Only time will tell.
In other breaking news, I got my scooter back today ($924.35 later) and it's running so smoothly I breathe a sigh of happiness each time I accelerate. Oh how I've missed you, sascha! Don't ever leave me again! |

Congrat's on the job.
You might find yourself with a little tax refund at tax time because the higher tax on the 2nd job. If you are overtaxed too much on the 2nd job, you can actually apply to the ATO to have your tax rate reduced on the 2nd job, but that's probably all a little complicated, I'd just hold out for the refund...

Just found your blog. I must say that you got a good writing skill. Your blog kept my hooked up until I read all you’re posting. Hey, welcome to the world for “WORKING GIRLS”. Don’t get afraid of tax and all those stuffs. Think of today but live for tomorrow. You’ll get a bright future.

Congrats (I think) on the new job, it will be good experience for your degree.
It's good you won't have to pay too much extra tax, when I did my return last year I had earned like $50 over the low income level and had to pay some medicare levy that made me lose lots of money off my return, I don't know the finer details, but just beware of earning too much :)
Good luck learning to juggle by next week :P

You seriously crack me up!
Congrats on the job honey - I am sure everything is going to work out fine. Must be the week for it :)

At the very least the new job will help pay for the scooter repairs. Sascha? Nice one!

Well done! I told you its not as bad as you think it is :)
I realise that Jen won't see this, but why the hell did she have to pay the medicare levy? You only have to pay that if you earn over $50k (or$100k for a family)... and I'm pretty sure she's been a poor student for many years now... I'm confused.
Yay for the new job, yay for (probable) tax returns!

Jump in with both feet and worry about the small print later. Always works for me.
Good luck.
